Reflecting at the river was not the only productive thing I did yesterday. It started last night when my roommate walked in with a new pair of skate shoes. He was so amped he said going to go to the skatepark right then to break them in and asked if I wanted to go to. At this point it’s about 10:45 and I had class the next morning.
To be honest, I didn’t even think about it. I was immediately down. It was another opportunity to go film and stack some clips.
And stack we did. We stayed there until around 2 in the morning and damn near filmed the whole time. The only thing that kept me from doing so was forgetting to charge my extra battery.
I haven’t been to the park since February when I went to work on a photo project. Being back out there, I felt exactly how I felt when I went back then after a major hiatus, like I was at home. Even though I’m not at 1000 percent, it felt good to just be out there, to be around skating.
As the session was winding down, I looked around at the park and knew that in those couple hours of filming, I had made a step towards my dreams. Everything was in alignment. I was doing what I’ve always wanted to do since I was six years old. It was just as it was in February. I was somewhat pressed for time, as I did have class in the morning (or so I thought at the time), but honestly, I didn’t care. I wanted to stay and keep filming.
To say the least, it was a great night.
Peace,
J
