Since the usual library was closed on campus today, I looked it up and saw that my second option was open, so I headed there instead.
Recently they tore down Hayward Field, which is just as much of a staple to UO as Autzen stadium. It’s been a couple of weeks since they tore it down, probably close to a month in fact, so I’ve been aware of it.
But today, as I was skating by the site, it hit me as I looked upon the vacant plot of land where the track used to sit. It’s the end of an era. I knew there was a rich history to the field already and after a quick google search I found out it’s been here for almost a century.
It hit me that things are changing. I’ve been here going on seven years now and skated by it numerous times. It was weird not seeing those green gates at the corner anymore.

As I got to my spot in the library and took this photo, the message I got from this was to embrace it. Embrace the change. Google also showed me the pictures of what it’s going to look like when it’s finished and of course, it looks amazing.
I just took it as a reminder that not only is change inevitable, but necessary for growth.
N.O.D.

Peace,
