Last year, one of the things I focused on was getting better at using Adobe Illustrator because well, using it is simply part of the plan. To be honest though, I haven’t used it since I made the post about the Drip vector.
So, today I decided to get back into the groove. I figured the best way to do that would be to start how I did back then; I warmed up with a pen tool exercise that I downloaded online.

This was actually one of the first exercises I ever did in learning Illustrator back in school. The image here is only a portion of the exercises. They were assignments as well as challenges then but now I use them as a warm up. Or in cases like this, ways to shake the rust off.
But after that, I just started with a shape and freestyled from there. I chose the square and ellipse tool and went from there. I didn’t have any idea in mind for what I wanted to make. I just went with what came to mind on the fly and this is what happened.
Ultimately, as I did last year, the goal was to spend 30 minutes minimum working in Illustrator.
More importantly, after a hiatus from working in it, the goal was to just start, to do something.
That’s what this random design is. A start.
TBC.
