Digital Doodling

In continuing to get back in the swing of using Illustrator, I continued the randomness from yesterday and made this. Again, no plan or idea of what I wanted to make. I started with a square this time and built on top of it from there. Other than the rectangle and triangle tools, all I needed for this was the pathfinder tools and then it’s just a matter of putting everything together.

Despite it’s simplicity, this was fun to make. I can tell because going for 30 minutes, I went for an hour. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I warmed up with a different exercise this time which is one of the reasons why I went longer.

It dawned on me that one of the reasons it was fun is because it’s like digital doodling for me. When I doodle, one of the ways I like to do it is to use shapes and see what I can make with them. I’ve been doing that for as long as I can remember, and it’s how this cardboard piece came about.

It may be simple and nothing breathtaking, but today’s randomness was fun to make.
