On-The-Fly II

Day 4 of making random designs on Illustrator is in the books and here’s the offering for today.

This one’s interesting to me because to me it’s a lot simpler than the previous ones but also more complicated at the same time. Unlike the ones before, not only is it confined into a shape that doesn’t intersect with another but there aren’t many intersections within the composition, to begin with. Or so it may seem.

This is where the complexity of it comes into play. It may not look like it but this one required the most use out of the pathfinder tools out of all of them. There was a lot of trial and error trying to figure out which one made the effect I wanted. A lot of copying and pasting shapes, moving them around, just a lot more movement essentially. And because there are so many more pieces to this one, I got reacquainted with using layers for everything. When I took the Digital Drawing class last year, learning how to use layers was one of the most significant takeaways I got from it, without question.

All of that aside, I will say that doing this on-the-fly mini challenge has was the right decision because ideas for other designs have been surfacing.

And that’s always a good sign.

TBC.
