I enjoyed your article very much, and agree with most of what you wrote. There is another issue which I feel the city needs to address: the size of the delivery trucks that drive through our city. The intersections of the East bound arterial and either Academy St. or S. Hamilton St. are particularly bad for large trucks turning north onto either street. I was at the S. Hamilton St. intersection one day when I saw a woman side swiped by an 18 wheeler, even though she had backed up to allow him to turn. Corporations are saving money by sending larger and larger trucks for deliveries and our city streets are paying the price. I don’t know what the answer is, but I do believe it needs to be part of the plan the Mayor is talking about.
