I feel like I could have written the “Years ago…” paragraph. I put much of that behind me, realizing it was my own lack of understanding of the people that I sought approval from. I cared more about fitting in with the people who didn’t care more than the people who I thought didn’t care, but really did. Sometimes, it’s difficult to know the difference.
