I like the timeline suggestion for avoiding dates.

In my world, so much effort is put into pinpointing dates for things to happen months out, before the testing has even commenced.

I try to open minds to this wasted effort but it’s like an addiction. People will admit the dates float when we get closer to reality time but they still need that fix.

Getting teams to shift to settling on a 6-month or a quarter would be a huge improvement to the analysis paralysis.
