Self-Help Script for Not Going Batshit

I am not going to blow smoke up your ass. For about five seconds, I thought about writing a self-help script for self-esteem. Then, I remembered that talking yourself into feeling/believing that you are a good person is bull shit. Research showed us years ago that sitting around telling yourself how great you are is as waste of time. In the end, it is the things you do to prove you are a great person. It is your actions not your words that build self-confidence. Consider this:

The Five Remembrances — Buddha

I am of the nature to have ill-health.
There is no way to escape having ill-health.

I am of the nature to die.
There is no way to escape death.

All that is dear to me and everyone I love
are of the nature to change.
There is no way to escape being separated from them.

My actions are my only true belongings.
I cannot escape the consequences of my actions.
My actions are the ground on which I stand.

Try repeating this as you start each day to remind yourself that all you have is this moment. Notice that your anxiety comes from focusing too much on trying to control things and people that are not under your control. When you fully admit to yourself that you can’t control all the things you are trying to control, you are liberated — free. Instead, focus on what is under your control….. your actions. Stop talking about doing something positive, and just do it.

Here is a self-help script for not going batshit:

Mother fucker, you woke up to see another day. I wonder what will happen today. Your mind races to all of the shit that you have to do, but for a moment, take a deep breath. Be appreciative that you can breathe…. that you are above ground. Notice your five senses (seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling). Be grateful for them. How do you feel as a whole person? What would you like to contribute to your surroundings today? Live today as if you may not have a tomorrow, because honestly, you aren’t guaranteed a tomorrow. Don’t skip work or spend all of your money, but live life like it means something. Be kind. Be generous. The positive energy you put out will come back to you with interest. Today is not yesterday, and today is not tomorrow. Today is here and now. Do you want to give up control of your mind, your happiness, your wellness to forces outside of you, or do you want to take control of your mind? If life throws you a curve ball, hit it out of the park. If life feels like a shit show, start dancing, mother fucker. Fly your freak flag high because you can. Be grateful for at least one thing today, and take a moment to tell someone thank you. Now, move on mother fucker — get on with YOUR life and not the life that someone wants you to live or the life you feel stuck with. Get on with the life that you make.
