You’re allowed to be “not in the mood”

This was a breath of fresh air. Thanks for a little honesty. While I get, and sometimes even enjoy, the advice of self helpers urging me to be more productive with “10 new amazing life hacks” it does wear thin sometimes. On some level I hope to become as “superhuman” as the next person, but there is something boring, even disturbing about someone who is always “on.”

I think your sentiment is right on. There is something robotic, and on some level dishonest, about people who don’t (or can’t) acknowledge the deeper, baser, more complex, and at times, more negative emotions that exist within all of us.

Whenever I feel “down” or “not in the mood” I know I’ve been painting in one color for too long. Without a little contrast I’d be blind.
