Very interesting article. I wonder, though, if it’s not too focused on a first world scenario? Do your figures and estiamtions factor those parts of the world where smartphone & internet penetration isn’t as ubiquitous as it is in, say, the US,where haling a ride may not as be as simple, and where roads infrastructure may not be suitable to autonmous, electric cars? Of course, those places account for a smaller slice of Carmageddon’s pie, but do you think those markets’ reliance on traditional mobility will delay its effects, or will they just be swept aside and left to fend for themselves in a world with more expensive gas and less support for old vehicles?
