Medium as A Writing Platform
With Medium, it’s easy to tell a story. Say I wanted to share a day I spent exploring different places in San Francisco, taking photographs. But I also wanted to do it using the actual photos themselves. There’s no way to accomplish that with a traditional essay, but here, it’s as easy as a few extra clicks
The day started off in the Mission District, where I drooled over ridiculously expensive looking houses that could only exist in San Francisco

Whoever lives here must be the happiest person ever, waking up to that view every morning and getting to experience it on that fancy roof

After a while, I reached Bernal Heights Park, which is an open space on top of a gigantic hill that overlooks half of the city. You can see all the way out to AT&T park and the Eastern part of the bay, all of downtown, and what I believe was South San Francisco. I figured that everyone’s seen enough photos of the city skyline, so I tried a couple of experimental double exposures of my friend Amanda.

After trekking from Bernal Heights to Billy Goat Hill, I stopped there for a bit. Billy Goat Hill is known for its famous rope swing and its vantage point of the city, but someone had cut the rope swing down and left the rope dangling off the tree trunk. However, that didn’t stope one brave (or stupid) soul from scaling the tree and swinging from just the rope.

When the day came to a close and we had to take Bart home, we had very good company on the train. The three guys sitting next to us were drunk out of their minds and attempting to filter a 5 buck bottle of vodka into something remotely fit for human consumption. After providing them an empty water bottle and some conversation, I was treated to a very passionate freestyle battle between two of the guys. It was easily the highlight of my day and the best way to end it.
