Peace is much more than that, though.

To quote Einstein,

Peace is not merely the absence of war, but the presence of justice, of law, of order – in short, of government.

That a government has been subverted into, if not founded upon, the absence of justice and peace is something that must always be kept fully in mind. When, not if, the supporters of authentic peace prevail, things are going to be very different.

If peace does not prevail, then our species cannot survive; the damage we are doing to ourselves and our planet to support our wars of military and economic aggression will ensure that. Cosmetic, tactical change is not enough. We need to fundamentally reevaluate our social policies and actions, and it is very difficult to do that when those who benefit most from the status quo are in control of the official conversation.

We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools. – Dr Martin Luther King, Jr
