No, No That’s Not How You Say It

I was visiting a small town in Germany some 15 or 20 years ago and there were a number of gyro spots. The interesting thing was that their pyramid of meat was not a ground up mound of who knows what kind of meats but it was made out of slabs of different meats somehow all stuck together into a pyramid on a spit. Someone there told me it was a regulation so that it could be determined the kinds of meats used and that no unknown “fillers” were used. Not sure if that was true or just the tradition there. I have to say I like the pyramid of ground up mystery meats better…
