Seasonal Affective Disorder

I was diagnosed with S.A.D. or Seasonal Affective Disorder. Basically, I suffer depression through the winter months. Normally November to March. Every single year since 2001. Used to take medicines that were low doses of antidepressants. Talk about a roller coaster. Up, down, both in the same 5 minute time frame. The meds reeked havoc on my body. And I really wasn’t feeling like myself.

After a couple of years of the medicine amusement park, I tried out a Verilux sun lamp. Basically, it stimulates sunlight, something I lack in the winter months. Bottom line, I have not been on meds for 4 years now.

I am open and entertain questions about S.A.D. and how I deal with it. My opinions are my own, and I don’t expect the same results for everyone. You need to talk with friends, family, and your doctor.
