This must have been difficult to write considering the personal and institutional animosity that you have faced and, undoubtedly, will face for, quite literally, raising your voice. It’s a sad story and goes to show that, even in Nairobi’s supposedly meritocratic and progressive tech scene, there are few red lines (in your case, there were none when it came to sexual harassment). That the champions of this industry, who I presume are now former friends, pussyfooted and delayed justice, ignoring The Guy’s history with this sort of behaviour, must also mean that there are numerous other women like you (in the sense that you were harassed) in other companies. Hopefully, your courage helps them fight back, in one way or another. Equally importantly, perhaps this will stoke a moment of reflection in the industry. Regardless, hope that you heal quickly- wishes from online strangers like myself are inevitably worth shit; regardless, human decency demands them. All the best and thank you for sharing!
