Instant chat apps, such as Slack is becoming the new norm of workplace communication. Every day I receive numerous messages from all kinds of channels that I joined. Then, I tend to think from a broader perspective: can we digest the team health, behaviors, and collaboration patterns from these Slack conversations?

Analyzing such data is critical to understanding team communicative and coordinative practices. It can provide insights to learn how the successful team operation is constituted, and allow for gleaning relational links among team members which are significant to the effectiveness of information exchange. …
