Huh? The FBI doesn’t “protect commerce,” nor do they get involved in lawsuits between private companies. There’s no reason tax dollars need to be expended on a fight between two companies collectively worth hundreds of billions of dollars.
In terms of consumer products in general, the only governmental entities that generally get involved are state attorneys general and, more recently, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau created in the aftermath of the ’08 economic crisis (though its days could be numbered with Trump running the show). When they do get involved, it’s generally either because a product sold en masse has a serious defect and requires a nationwide recall — the most recent example here is probably the Takata airbags installed in millions of vehicles that have killed at least 200 people — or a company misled or fraudulently induced consumers into paying for something they shouldn’t have. (Most of the major wireless carriers have been forced by the aforementioned attorneys generals into coughing up eight-figure settlements for engaging in slamming.)
