True, but an “known unknown” with respect to EVs is their longer-term maintenance costs. Tesla isn’t exactly a poster child in this regard; while it hasn’t been widely reported, Model 3s have by and large had far more mechanical problems than the average fossil fuel-powered vehicle. Moreover, they’ve never been rigorously tested for the type of near-24-hour daily use you suggest.
Also, it seems like you’re taking it as a given that AVs will be powered by electricity. I’d say it’s too early to make that assumption. City buses, to cite an example, already run on CNG, in many places. (While yes, obviously it’s a fossil fuel, the majority of America’s electricity is derived from natural gas or coal as well.) Further, fuel cell vehicles are finally starting to enter the mainstream, starting with the Toyota Mirai. Not only do they emit zero-emission, no emissions are required to derive their fuel source in the first place.
