Foray into freelance?
The job search is in full swing at this point more or less and it is quite exhausting. Between filtering out recruiters calling for positions I am not qualified for, trying to convince shops I’m not too Jr and writing custom cover letters for everyone, I have quickly found that this might be a tad harder to find a good fitting Jr position than I had originally anticipated.
This has led me to making a web page…for my friends electrician business. This will be my first commercial site and I think it is coming along decently so far. I have already dove into some new realms as I haven’t made an email submit form before…but I was able to accomplish that yesterday without too much fuss. After a little fandangling with the SMTP settings and SSL I was able to knock it out. Today I am going to try to fill up the rest of the shell I have made for it and begin some custom styling. Once this page is live, I am going to start soliciting for some more business. Maybe this is what I’m supposed to be doing…working for myself. Here goes nothing.
I also have a goal of continuing to learn more front end technologies to make things flashier. I don’t even remember if I wrote about this or not, but I made a site last week with Node.Js that was a searchable queue of the Itunes top 100 list. I want to continue learning more Node, and add in some React. Angular is also at the top of the list, but there seems to be about 10 ways to set up the environment and each one is different. So I just need to find the one that will work for one of my environments.
