Technically, the government does not “give” money by not charging as much in taxes; however, it DOES take MUCH more from some than from others. For example, I pay property tax on my residence — as do many of those in the lower 99% by income in the United States — however, there is no property tax on stocks or bonds, where the upper 1% store much of their wealth. Attempting to argue semantics against fairness is merely an idiotic attempt to obfuscate the entire point.
