Climate Liberty

This week, President Obama and the Environmental Protection Agency released the Clean Power Plan, the country’s first ever plan to regulate carbon pollution from existing power plants. Believe it or not, until now corporate polluters have been able to dump unlimited amounts of heat-trapping carbon pollution into the air with no consequences. The fossil fuel industry’s tight grip on Washington has prevented taking serious action on climate change, until now. This plan turns a global challenge into an opportunity by setting the United States on a path towards the cleaner, more secure forms of energy of the future.

A nation does not truly have liberty until its citizens are no longer forced to suffer the catastrophic impacts from the deliberate acts of others. We still have a long way to go to prevent the worst impacts of a warming world, but this step is absolutely historic. Freedom from dirty energy is on the way.
