Sure, giving up your life for others to live is a huge sacrifice. But the truth is, if that was all Jesus did, He would be called Saint Jesus at best. The Resurrection... now that's when the story gets really interesting.
Jesus is God (Colossians 2:9). God not only of life, but of death also. This my friends, is the most important theme in Christianity. For if He didn't vanquish death, all your faith, prayers, hope and perhaps, piety, would all be scalar.
1 Corinthians 15:14 "And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain."
It was all just a really long chess game.
Old Nick made the first move. He deceived a third of the Heavenly Hosts to usurp the authority of the King of Kings (that's like attempting a fool's mate on a grandmaster).
God's move: To hell with you all!
Devil's move: Plant sin to wipe out His pieces
God's move: Send Son to neutralise sin
Devil's move: Kill son so sin can't be neutralised (hahaha... Check!)
God's move: That was bait. You can't take my piece, I kept it there intentionally. Besides, I made provision for this exact move right from the beginning.
When Jesus screamed "It is finished", what He really meant was "Checkmate!".
~True love cannot be buried
~Nothing is too wrong or hopeless that it cannot be made right
~Always think 'Big Picture'
~First moves aren't always best moves. Wait for it!
~Don't ever fool around with a Grandmaster!
May the power of this day quicken everything in your life... Happy Resurrection Day!
