A Hindrance can be a Good Thing

As I said in my first post, I can’t use my right hand much. I now use my left… but as I’ve learned that’s not a new thing:

Before Kindergarten I was left-handed. Back then religion was still strong in Quebec. I was in a bilingual school and the left hand was still seen as evil — so my teacher forced me to become a Right-hander.

Flash forward decades, my Right hand no longer worked well. I could no longer eat or drink with it. My Left hand saved me. I still have to learn to write with it; that will come.

There’s another benefit: each hand governs the opposite side of the brain, so I have both: the artistic and the analytic sides. As I’ve said before, I’m not a Science person, but I’m both an artist (BfA 1990) and a computer person. I’ve liked SF from a young age, and I was a brainy kid!
