“iPhone” and Two Other Stories about Depression

Karen —
You titled the article “iPhone and two other stories ….” However, I am struck by the realization that the iPhone — or it’s proxy — is present in each story. First as a gift, then a music source as you walk through the grocery store, and finally as a phone itself.
And in the first story, you see your own distorted reflection in the device. This is obviously a literary device, but consider the technological device as a deeper metaphorical one. The iPhone itself might be considered a physical manifestation of the distorted, depressive mirror you carry around with you everywhere and through which your entire world is considered.
