We Are on the Fence of a New Decade

Do one last thing with intention — anything that remains undone — to end 2019 and begin 2020 with positive energy

OK, we have one day remaining in 2019. Hurray! The New Year awaits!

While many of us are now focused on the ball dropping and the new opportunities that await us, I find it a moment to pause and see what still remains undone — and wanting to be done — before the year runs down.

Now, don’t get me wrong . . . I am almost always forward-thinking, believing the best is yet to come and opportunities await us that we have hardly been able to even consider in the past.

However, I am focusing on December 31, the final day of the year. That day that is often discounted as the time between now and the New Year. Some may consider that day a liminal period, but I think in all such times, we have opportunities if we are open to them.

There is a DAY here, folks, one that should not be wasted or overlooked!

True, there may not be time to complete the goals we have been working on this year that were not realistic or failed to change as we grew and developed ourselves. However, what better testament is there to leaving the old year in the past than doing it with a win?

If we celebrate a win as we leave off the year, even one with many challenges we faced, our final memory will be one of success!

What better way to end than with a positive memory!!

Leave 2019 with One Thing DONE

This is the challenge I pose . . .

  1. Take one of your goals you started the year with or developed over time.
  2. Chop it into a single action that you will feel good at accomplishing. You know, that thing that is doable and brings a smile of satisfaction to your mind? That’s it.
  3. Do that one, concrete, tangible thing so you feel good AND can claim a brief sense of success.

This is the fence upon which we stand at this moment. We can come down on the side with nothing completed and resolved and look back at the end of the year as a missed opportunity, or come down on the side upon which we can smile for having completed one more small thing.

Which side of the fence do you want to remember? It is only through some small effort that it will be different.

After all, when you think back to this moment in the future, what stories you may tell about how you not only finished something you set out to do, but it was the ribbon on the year as well!!

Don’t be faint of heart and worry it may be too little, too late. That is almost always better than nothing at all, ehh?

I really want to hear what you did as you wrapped up the end of the year, so please share in the Comments! I just may share my own final accomplishment as well . . .

Until next time, let’s keep in touch!
