Liverpool 4–0 Arsenal: Rampant Reds breeze past the Gunners
Goals by Firmino, Mane, Salah and Sturridge seal emphatic 4–0 victory over Arsenal.

Liverpool produced a sensational performance to thump Arsenal 4–0 at Anfield, continuing their unbeaten start to the season and their excellent record against the “Top 6".
The Reds picked up where they left off against Hoffenheim and started the game full of confidence, taking the game to the visitors, who simply didn’t turn up.

Roberto Firmino opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a neat header after a superb cross by Joe Gomez, before Sadio Mane doubled the lead in the 40th minute, with a brilliant solo effort.
Mohamed Salah atoned for his earlier miss with a cooly taken third goal, pouncing on a loose touch from Hector Bellerin in the 57th minute, before Daniel Sturridge added the icing on the cake with a lovely poacher’s goal late in the game.

It was a near perfect performance from us, with almost everything going our way. It was the complete opposite for Arsenal who were utterly woeful.
When I say near perfect, of course I am referring to the performance of Loris Karius, who replaced Simon Mignolet in the starting XI.

It was a chance for the German to stake his claim for the number 1 spot, but was almost caught on the ball a few times, taking too long to clear his lines.
Joe Gomez, however, performed brilliantly at right back keeping Alexis Sanchez (and Alexandre Lacazette) quiet throughout the game. Like Trent Alexander-Arnold, he got up and down the right flank well and looked steady on the ball. His delivery was superb for Firmino’s goal.

It is hard to pick the man of the match today, because everyone performed so well today. We were clinical in attack, dominant in midfield, and largely untroubled at the back.
With a performance like that, it gives me great belief that we are able to compete for honours this season. As for Arsenal, the alarm bells are ringing yet again with another lifeless performance.
It seemed like everything we touched today turned to goals.
