Bruh, as an Eagle Scout plus a former employee and volunteer in the Boy Scouts I can assure that there was nothing appropriate or valid about the president’s* speech. Other issues aside, the president* treated this event as a political rally which is a break of norms and a violation of the policies of the Boy Scouts. I’ve worked with elected officials before speaking at scout events. From a city council member to a member of the United States House none of them had a problem with keeping their remarks free from politics. I was at the 2001 and 2010 jamborees and president’s Bush and Obama had no problem keeping their remarks free from politics.
Let’s let the scouts decide what is and isn’t appropriate at their events. Based on their press release the president’s* speech wasn’t appropriate. Let’s not pretend that it was.
