Bruh, when I worked for the Scouts one of my responsibilities was spokesperson. It was neat. Did a few interviews and speeches.
But you are right, I am not a spokesperson. But their spokespeople did issue a statement making it very clear that the Boy Scouts does not endorse anything that was said. It is not a major leap to say that the if they had to release a statement making their stance clear — for the first time ever — then the remarks were not appropriate. Unless you are saying it is okay to swear in front of Scouts? Or that trashing political rivals is okay in front of Scouts? Or goading Scouts into booing a former president is okay? Or pushing your policy agenda is okay in front of Scouts? Or talking about billionaires on yachts (thank goodness he stopped before the sex parties) is okay in front of Scouts? Are you saying those things are okay? Oh, and this current employee has strong words on what happened.
As to the rest of your response you seem keen on distracting from the actual conversation. You talk about all the secular woes the scouts are having and how the organization is doomed to. This is off topic. You are trying to use your opinion of the state of the organization to justify the speech that the president* gave. That is a questionable line of reasoning. Now, I can discuss your opinions of an organization that has been steadily declining in membership for decades (well before the “political correctness” phase), but again, that is off topic.
The speech was either appropriate or it was not. The truth is that it was not. If you want to discuss the other stuff then just say so and stop pretending the speech was okay.
