It’s Time to Impeach Trump or Invoke the 25th Amendment now, S.O.S!

With the pending release of Bob Woodward’s explosive new book called, “Fear,” accompanying that with unreal Op-Ed from an anonymous Senior Administration Official working inside the White House for Mr. Trump being published earlier today by the New York Times, it’s time for a mutiny of sorts amongst his cabinet officials to invoke the 25th Amendment of the United States Constitution or for Congress to draw up articles of impeachment due to the six investigations currently underway.

  • The 25th Amendment in theory would be a difficult process that would allow cabinet officials plus the Vice President (Pence) to notify congress to strip the powers of the presidency from Trump stating that he’s no longer capable of carrying out the duties of his office thus making Pence an acting President of the United States. Trump could fight it, but, it would be up to both the Senate and House on a 2/3 vote to decide on his fate.
  • Impeachment, a complex process itself would require the House to decide whether there are charges after an investigation from the judicial committee or other body (like the FBI), they vote on whether to bring charges to Trump. If there’s a passage of articles of impeachment, it goes to the Senate for trial led by Chief Justice John Roberts. The Senate would then have to decide whether to convict/remove Trump on a 2/3 vote.

At this point, it appears both are unlikely in my honest opinion. However, the time is now to exercise one of these ways of removing Trump from office due to the chaos that ensues day in and day out.

Just today, an anonymous employee in the administration had some criticism for his boss, saying:

  • The root of the problem is the president’s amorality. Anyone who works with him knows he is not moored to any discernible first principles that guide his decision making.
  • Meetings with him veer off topic and off the rails, he engages in repetitive rants, and his impulsiveness results in half-baked, ill-informed and occasionally reckless decisions that have to be walked back.
  • “There is literally no telling whether he might change his mind from one minute to the next,” a top official complained to me recently, exasperated by an Oval Office meeting at which the president flip-flopped on a major policy decision he’d made only a week earlier.

On top of that, Woodward’s “Fear” has revealed some unreal moments within the West Wing as revealed by the Washington Post:

  • Trump wanting to assassinate Bashar al-Assad.
  • Trump wanted to withdraw from a trade agreement with South Korea.
  • After the Charlottesville mess last year, Trump hated the fact that he had to condemn white supremacists, saying: “That was the biggest fucking mistake I’ve made” and the “worst speech I’ve ever given,”
  • John Dowd, Trump’s former lawyer, told Woodward that he had a mock interview with Trump pretending to be Mueller. He peppered Trump with questions until he had a 30 minute hissy fit, of course Trump called it a “witch hunt”.

Just by these two sources alone, we can all see that Trump is so unstable, unhinged that his aides have to bend over backwards to protect the country from Trump because they feel that he’s a “professional liar” (via Gary Cohn) and “has the understanding of ‘a fifth- or sixth-grader.’ ” (via Jim Mattis).

Besides the craziness going on in the West Wing, Trump’s compulsive lying, inability to understand the first amendment, racism, corruption, treasonous conduct, reckless disregard for human rights, mismanagement of Puerto Rico post Hurricane Maria, along with his disastrous policies on trade should set off alarm bells.

What will it take? When will this nightmare end? Do we have to wait until 2019 for Democrats to take over the house before something is done?

Hopefully soon. I can’t take it anymore. This president sucks.
