I’m happy right now. That may change, but I’m not worried about what may happen. I can’t control it, so I don’t stress over it.

You may be happy like me. You may be unhappy or somewhere in between. Happiness is not an either/or proposition. There are varying levels of happiness and unhappiness.

But what about satisfaction? Are happiness and satisfaction the same?

According to the dictionary, happiness is a state of well-being and contentment while happy is a feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.

Satisfied is being content or pleased while satisfaction is the fulfillment of one’s wishes, expectations, or needs, or the pleasure derived from this.

Although they are similar, they are not the same.

We can be happy, but not satisfied.

Many people are this way. They may be happy overall, but not satisfied with one aspect of life like their job, relationship or health.

The problem with many who seek both happiness and satisfaction is they will never achieve it because they continually want more.

We believe we need more stuff, more rooms in our houses and more expensive cars…
