Why I Am Embracing Minimalism

And Why You Should Consider It Too

I have become a fan of minimalism in the past couple of years. I’m not living in a tiny house or anything like that, but if I’m being honest, I hope to one day.

I want to because I’m figuring out all the stuff I have only brings me stress — and I have too much of both. The larger the space I inhabit, the more I have a need to fill it with something.

I’ve been hooked by materialistic pursuits. I believed I needed items to keep me happy. And while my purchases gave me a brief high, it never lasted. I would then have to find something new to purchase to keep the high going.

But I don’t need it anymore. I need to run, to write, to read, and to be at peace. And I can’t do any of those things if I constantly chase after more possessions. I want simple — and owning a house full of stuff can make life complicated.

So I am embracing minimalism as a way to regain control of my time, my finances, and my mind. Whether it brings me peace is a question still to be answered, but I see no downside to having less and living simply.

Minimalism allows me to not be burdened by my possessions. It is being happy with what I have and not buying things I don’t need. Minimalism does not mean I have to sell everything I own and become…
