Crash

Body of Water Haikus, 32–41/52

CRASH

Collapse in the blink
feet planted in sinking sands
winds whip flash of light

MERGE

By chance reflection
on the way to an old haunt
was already there

WHEREVER

Echo under bridge
as travelers make their way
root of the journey

BACKDROP

Don’t fall in water
more glass condos springing up
two ducks float on by

REFUGE

Seen from other side
hidden, restful place to sit
mirage claims its truth

ARRIVE

Seeking symmetry
in the chaos of collapse
waves always reach sky

UPHEAVAL

Your drastic exit
a faded shout lingering
drowns the silence deep

ENDS

There will come a point
always a surprise, except
you know it’s coming

LEAVING

Grey sky a burden
winds whip hard but miss their mark
leafless trees stand still

WHEREABOUTS

When were we last here?
forever to find the beach
heard waves the whole time
