Endless Summer at the End

Montauk Haikus

DELAY

It might be worth it
to miss sole train departure
for a hot coffee

or

It might be worth it
to miss sole train departure
to hold this embrace

REFRACTIVE

Through train window view
furious revelation
tangled blurs make sense

MOVEMENT

Under the full moon
a dancing girl in the wind
shadows roam the night

WRECK

Calm in collisions
let us meet in the middle
laugh in thunder’s roar

CONTINUUM

Wake up too early
never a bad thing, really
time for a long walk

ROUNDABOUT

Head out for coffee
place to sit, do some writing
got donuts instead

TRANSIT

Setting sun on clouds
lights a glowing red pathway
slipping time for space

QUEST

Seeking symmetry
infinite scenarios
in new dimensions

HOVER

Mist on the water
sway of reeds reminding you
slow moves run deepest

IMMERSE

Bright blue sky morning
crashing waves on empty beach
dive in, wash away

BACKROOM

Hidden in plain sight
a secret plan to meet there
don’t turn on the lights

MERGE

People are afraid
that one novel’s opening
keep turning the page

WAKE

Bed facing window
a view of the lake at dawn
eyes to water glaze

REASONING

Hopping on this ride
a sense of directionless
to end of the line

TRIP

Last bike ride to town
detour down an unknown path
glide in whole new light

RADIANCE (for JT)

An endless summer
we were both there, at the end
forever at last
