San Francisco Haikus

NEIGHBORHOOD

Wandering old haunts
forgetting how to get there
still finding the way

ICED

Dropped by ten degrees
in the span of an exhale
I know where I’m at

TOAST

Does it have to be
as soon as we celebrate
what’s wrong must surface

FLIGHT

Thirty thousand feet
in the clouds, rumbling skyward
there’s nowhere to go

CITY LIGHTS

Expanding in verse
a whole space for poetry
such a place exists

TURN ME AROUND

Heard that song before
can’t place where it takes me back
this must be the place

BONDS

Place we used to live
meeting old friends at the bar
like we never left

DRIFT

Recognize gestures
slowly walking same old route
reveals in glances

TAQUERIA CANCUN

(1)
The best burrito
in the whole wide world of eats
thrives in The Mission

(2)
Always on lookout
for the mythic burrito
never even close

VISIT

Bay Bridge in distance
my old city still lights up
sunrise brings it back
