Storm

A story in seven haikus

WEARY

Clouds over calm lake
reflecting the long day’s mood
your eyes shut, slowly

SPENT

Evening walks weary
slipping back into itself
for another night

BROKE

We spent everything
last dollars on the table
there was no last drink

BURDEN

Lying there, dawn broke
haze tightened our jagged strain
entwined into selves

PULL

Black hole deep in grasp
spinning burden across time
leaving no escape

CONJURE

Middle of the night
lush amber in desert dreams
pull me through your spells

DENOUEMENT

A cold, empty room
conjure us there, face to face
clouding the silence
