You Can’t Be Socially Progressive and Economically Conservative
Mike Epifani

Yes, you can be “socially liberal and economically conservative” you can support gay marriage, immigration, homeless shelters, low-income housing, decriminalizing personal use of illicit drugs and much more socially liberal ideas without wanting/needing to tax people and businesses into bankruptcy. The fact that most people pay nearly half of their salaries towards income tax is insane and needs to be addressed. In Canada, 42% or more of the average family’s income goes towards taxes (their highest expense overall) how is that “fairness”? How is that “equality”? If you care about poor people, eliminate income tax deductions from people who earn $15 or less per hour and focus the taxation on the net worth of the 0.001% billionaires, not just their annual income.
