Astrology has been used for centuries to gain insight into our lives and personalities. However, astrology can also provide insight into our mortality. The birth chart can reveal information about the timing and circumstances of our death. Some people even use astrology as a way to cope with the loss of a loved one.

We don’t like to talk about death. Eastern civilizations are much more inclined to accept reincarnation, and do not see death as a definitive end. In traditional astrology, death is inseparable from life. Karmic astrology also gives us spiritual indications about the evolution of our soul. In this article, we’ll review the parameters related to death in a natal chart before illustrating this content with an example.

Whether you are already familiar with astrology or you’re a neophyte, you already know that a natal chart is made up of the twelve signs of the zodiac divided into twelve houses, the planets of our solar system and the Sun and Moon.

In addition to the planets of the Septenary known to the ancients - Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn - modern astrologers have added Uranus, Neptune and Pluto to the natal chart. Venus and Jupiter are called the benefics, Mars and Saturn the malefics.

Nowadays, Pluto is also considered a harmful planet. Depending on their configuration, these three planets can be life-threatening. But there are many other parameters related to death in a natal chart.

Important information:
If you have already read some of my articles, you already know that my work is based on the precepts of traditional astrology. This is why the following information is highly deterministic.

The 8th House: Death In All Its Forms

For traditional astrologers, the 8th house is first and foremost the house of death. The planets in this house will obviously nuance the overall significance of this sector of the birth chart. It is also very important to observe the ruler and almuten of this house. In addition, it is necessary to look at the aspects of the planets present in the 8th house, as well as the aspects of the ruler and almuten of this house to other planets.

The 4th House, The End Of Life

The best-known attributes of the 4th house are the native’s father, childhood and home. But modern astrologers tend to forget that the 4th house, which is furthest south of the ecliptic and therefore far from the light, also represents the end of life. This means that before the individual’s death, symbolized by the 8th house, the native’s last days are illustrated by the 4th house, the planets it contains, its ruler and its almuten. When you want to investigate about death in a natal chart, it is a good idea to analyze the 4th house, the “beginning of the end”.

The Arab Lot Of Death, A Little-Known Clue

The Arabic Lot of Death is a concept that can provide information about the causes of death. The Arabic Lot of Death is one of the many Arabic Parts, and it is calculated by adding the distance between two factors to the third factor. The calculation is simple: degree of the ascendant + degree of the 8th house - degree of the Moon. This Arabic lot can be calculated on Astro Seek.

The aspects of other planets to this Arabic Lot must be taken into account. The orb is 3 degrees. It is also interesting to study the house in which this Lot is located, as well as its ruler and almuten.

The Anareta, The Life Destroyer

Anareta is a term from Hellenistic astrology that refers to a planet that severely afflicts the Hyleg, in other words the life giver, at birth and by direction. It is usually a malefic, but any planet can be the Anareta, particularly the lord of the 8th house, the almuten of the house, or any planet placed in it. Essentially, Hyleg is the "best" planet, while Anareta is the "worst" planet in a birth chart. The Anareta (listed as “The Taker Of Life) can be easily determined in a birth chart with the Astro Seek calculator.

All these parameters need to be taken into consideration when investigating the death of the individual. If you wish to “analyze” the death of the native’s relatives from their natal chart, you can use the derivative houses method I described in article "Unlocking the Secrets of Derivative Houses in Astrology". Let’s take a concrete example.

Here is the astral chart of the famous American actress Jayne Mansfield, who died in tragic circumstances. Mansfield died in a car accident on June 29, 1967, at the age of 34. The accident occurred in the early morning hours when Mansfield was driving from Biloxi, Mississippi, to New Orleans for a television appearance scheduled for the next day. The impact drove the car’s engine into the front seat, killing the actress, two adults, and a dog (who rode up front) but sparing Mansfield’s children.

Saturn, which is in its sect since Jayne Mansfield’s natal chart is diurnal, is ruler of the 8th house and is in domicile. Saturn is a malefic planet and is dignified in this position. Although defining the Anareta is difficult, there is a good chance that Saturn is the life destroyer. The ruler of the ascendant, the Moon, is in the 8th house. The Moon is opposite Mars in the 3rd house.

Mars in the house of short trips is a general significator of accidents. Mars cuts, destroys and draws blood. Mars is peregrine in Virgo but, being very close to the cuspid, it is the strongest planet in this house. Mars is ruler of the 5th and 10th houses, in other words, cinema and career. Mars is in mutual reception with its dispositor, Mercury, in the 10th house. The Ascendant Mercury square is also an interesting point. The native, a movie star, is involved in an accident during a short journey.

The Arabic Lot of death in Mansfield’s chart

The Arabic Lot of death is at 20° Aries in the 10th house. There is a conjunction with Uranus that is believed to cause disruption and generate shocks and even quick accidents. There is a square between Pluto, which symbolizes violence, in the 1st house, and the Uranus-Lot of death conjunction.

Some astrological methods can be used to define a time window for an individual’s death. However, these techniques are difficult to grasp. Depending on your comments, I may write an article about it, who knows?
