Tips For Women In Music Business

The music business is a difficult business generally to get it and to be even successful in, but it’s even more difficult for women. It’s still very chauvinistic and a lot of barriers are there still in this modern time of 2016. Here are a couple tips that may help women either coming in the business or staying successful in the music business.

As a Woman in this business- Be Commanding

· Pay for all your bills whether studio recordings/ mix/ mastering/ video/ photo shoots. Never take anything on credit whether friends or not.

· Don’t mix business and personal relationships.

· Always be on time for all business appointments, you will be judged generally more harshly than a man.

Always be prepared for meetings and always be in time.

· Don’t flirt or come across too friendly in any business dealings, if you do you will not be taken seriously as a professional.

.Always maintain high integrity and professionalism in all business dealings this will take you to the top of the music industry.

· Maintain the balance of being assertive and not too aggressive. One must be assertive but never too aggressive because it may turn off certain business associates and will hamper further business relationships.

Always keep on your business and keep working.

· Always dress appropriately for the occasion. This is very important as image is everything in the music business. One always wants to dress classy, nothing is wrong with being sexy but as long as that’s not the only thing one is portraying or selling.

· Always be courteous and respectful to all potential business or existing business customers having a pleasant attitude always helps creating and sustaining business opportunities & relationships.

· Always be prepared for meetings. Always have a prior knowledge of who you are meeting with and a comprehensive understanding of all the topics of the meeting beforehand.

· Social media- Ladies be careful of what you share on social media, you always want to keep it classy and tasteful with pics and videos because a lot of people are judged on what they share on all social media platforms and can affect a lot of existing and future business that you may or may not know about.

Be very careful on what you are posting on social media, Maintaining the balance is key.
