Very good article. It resonates with the struggles we face every single day, specially inside big organisations and the tactical tips are very helpful to win the battles.

I would suggest a complementary approach, a more long term strategy, where the designer is also responsible to share the customer/user point of view, or as you mention, to help the other stakeholders acquire some of that precious empathy towards the end user.

It can be done in many different ways: Invite them to watch testing sessions or interviews, share customer recordings, put them together in the same room with customers in cocreation activities… give them the chance to create that emotional link that can tip future conflicts to the right side.
