You Will Figure It Out. You Just Need These 3 Things.
It’s easier said than done, but it will work out
I got another rejection email this week.
I am really really trying hard here.
And my disappointment is showing.
It put me in a light depression mode because I had lost interest of almost everything this week.
I didn’t want to write. I didn’t want to stream. I definitely didn’t want to do yoga.
Just wanted to mope.
Is it bad that I’m expecting to someone to hear me out and then scoop me up and go, “Hey! It’s going to get better. What can I do to help? That’s it? Here’s a thousand dollars/a job/your loans paid/Justin Timberlake outside to serenade you”.
Yeah, life isn’t like a TV show or movie.
Life just sucks.
But in Jen Sincero’s You Are A Badass, there’s a whole passage that just popped into my head:
Make It Urgent
Ever notice how when you’re rent is due in a week and you have no idea how you’re going to pay it or if you really need a specific amount of money for a specific urgent purpose… [but then] you always manage to somehow figure out how to get the money just in time?
You shift from wasting your time whining and worrying because you’re suddenly too busy making it happen.
-Chapter 24: Money, Your New Best Friend, pg 219
She says that all you just need is:
- Not screwing around
This is LITERALLY me right now. I’m already panicking for next month’s rent on January 10th. But I know that if I apply these three things it will finally happen.
So what do I need to find a job. Reach back out to my resources. Follow-up on emails. Ask around AGAIN. Who’s reliable in my network?
Well… It’s been urgent for 3 months now. So NOW is the time. I only got a few more weeks. So I gotta chop-chop.
Not screwing around
Just let me mope for another hour. Maybe play some Hearthstone or watch another episode of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Then I’ll be ready to go figure out a new plan for my current situation.
I know that it will work out. I know that I’ll be okay. I know that there’s an actually back-up plan. Just give me moment to get everything in order.
So, if you’re struggling like me or just dealing with some sort of road block in your life, just try these 3 things.
Hi, I’m Jemellee. But you can call me, Jem. Yes, like the ’80s cartoon
I’m a nerdy freelance writer and a Twitch streamer. I love reading articles about personal branding, being an influencer, social media, and marketing. But I’m also interested in yoga, travel, and cryptocurrency. Plus I’m a chocolate chip cookie eater, a Stitch collector, and a Netflix marathon runner.
