It’s dangerous for me to browse book stores online, in person, read book blogs, go on Goodreads, engage in posts listing “My best all-time favourite magical books,” and generally be exposed to books that desperately cry out to be read. In this Three Book Blog I’ve got some reads I’m super excited for, as they wait for me in my To Read Pile.

I read Morgenstern’s debut novel, The Night Circus, in 2013, and the world she built is stunning. It’s magical realism that leans on the magical but feels like realism, a world like ours but ever so slightly skewed just a little to the side, as if a reflected in a mirror just slightly askance. Not quite real, but not quite not real.

The Night Circus captured my imagination with its monochrome theme and time slippage. When the launch was announced for her second novel, I was excited.
