Why Straight White Women Perpetuate the Patriarchy
Emma Lindsay

The picture you paint of straight, white married women as either opportunists or doormats is just flat wrong. And considering many of us are the mothers of the future straight, white men who have won the “privilege jackpot,” as you say, I think we actually play an extremely important role in both furthering feminism and ending racism. I work hard on a daily basis to make sure my 3 boys treat everyone with respect and kindness, that they know we are all equal, and that my husband recognizes what he says and does will directly impact the kind of men they become. So rather than perpetuating the patriarchy, many of us straight, married white women are actually trying very hard to change it… it might not be in a boardroom or on the Senate floor but our efforts are no less important.
