5 Things To Think About Before Posting That On Instagram
- Picture Quality
Did you just take a picture with a flip phone? Or a potato? People don’t realize this, but we are in an age where your mother (maybe) can take a quality photo. No blur, no grain, and the subject is properly framed with sufficient lighting. Whether you like it or not, your Instagram is a reflection of you, especially to those who don’t know you. Make a good impression! - Photo Content
There’s this phrase called “Instagram Worthy” that clearly suggests there are photos that can be posted, but there are also photos that shouldn’t be posted. If you just found a bag of chips on the floor, don’t post that on Instagram. No one really.. cares. And you probably shouldn’t eat that either. - Day-of-the-Week-Hashtags
If you’re going to use a hashtag like #MCM or #TBT, make sure what your post corresponds to the day of the week. Don’t post a #FBF on a Tuesday. You just look lost. At least wait till Friday or just don’t use a hashtag at all. - Filters
Oh, the magic of filters. They enable you to edit without the hassle of toggling every element of a photo. And I get it, deciding on a filter is pretty difficult. But once you finally decide after about 5 minutes of clicking every filter there is, make sure it still looks a little natural. Don’t use a Toaster filter on a photo with people in it unless you were going for a fell-asleep-in-the-tanning-booth type of look. - Selfie Captions
It always takes a little time to make sure your caption is just right. Some people like to put lyrics to a song, an inspirational quote, or straight up “#selfie”. However, try to be a little humble with your selfies. Don’t go over board and post “Me! #selfie #cute #girl #cutegirl”. We know you’re cute! But captions like that will scare those double-taps away. Just be fun!
All in all, Instagram is one of the top ranked social media sites in the world. Be in control of the way you market yourself. Be social, be safe, and stand out from the crowd.
