Having lived in the Coachella Valley for the past year, I can testify to the stark contrast between the lush golf course landscapes of cities such as Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage and impoverished Indio just to the east. The agricultural workers (a.k.a. Hispanic population) live a stones throw from these luxury resort-type areas, and I recently learned that Barbara Boxer, Hillary’s relation through marriage, lives in the valley as well.
