I asked a friend once “if this world could just accept you for who you were and didnt place lables, would trans people really feel the need to risk their lives and bodyparts to be happy with themselves?” She said No.

Hi Tina! I’m happy my story lent you some perspective!

I just want to address that last bit, because I don’t entirely agree.

It’s true of some transfolk for sure, but many (most?) trans people aren’t making hormonal and social changes so they’ll be accepted, they’re doing it because it’s more congruent with their identity.

Even if people accepted me, I would experience dysphoria, because it’s mostly not about changing how other people see you, it’s about becoming who and what you want to be.

It’s always a risk for the brave transwomen who come out, but most of them already have to say “fuck it, my life is going to be full of people not accepting me, I’m doing this for me.”
