How Confidence Arises for the Visionary

I learned that there are times when it’s best to wait to take action toward your purpose until you feel ready.
And when I say take action, I mean public action.
Are you a visionary? An alchemist? A mystic? A highly intuitive creator?
Me too.
I have taken plenty of public action out of fear. I learned that fear shows up in two ways. No action. And frantic action.
I’ve tried both. And they were both valuable experiences.
When I wanted to create a legacy before I died, and no one understood what I was trying to create, I became frantic and defensive.
I. Must. Fulfill. My. Mission.
I. Must. Be. Somebody.
The value in frantic action is that I learned about myself.
I learned I was willing to fight for this nebulous thing I wanted to build. I was willing to be secretive if that’s what it took. I was willing to spend a lot of time and money on training.
Nevertheless she persisted kind of thing.
And when I was fully trained in everything I felt I needed, I instictively (intuitively) asked myself …
Does the Universe support me in this?
What I really meant was, Is this my thing? Is this me, aligning to the real me? I was concerned that fear was arising in me.
Now let’s be clear about why I didn’t just go with the This doesn’t feel right yet instinct within me. Why did I go into guilt and worry?
Because in hindsight, my feeling was absolutely correct.
Taking action, as in planting my stake in the ground publicly, at that point would have been a soul-sucking flop.
The reason I didn’t trust myself is because I was surrounded by people who truly believed and touted —
If you’re not taking action, you don’t want it bad enough.
But that isn’t the truth.
They don’t know you. You know you.
Action for the artist-creator-intuitive type doesn’t look like action to others.
What you’re doing when you feel that something isn’t right and hesitating is you’re experiencing. You’re experiencing non-alignment. You’re holding the space for more information to flow in. This is good and natural.
That sounds like B.S. to most people.
A seasoned artist knows this already. But you’re not seasoned quite yet.
Heck you still feel uncomfortable calling yourself an artist. I mean you don’t do traditional artist stuff. You don’t sell paintings or pottery.
But you don’t have to make art in the traditional sense to BE an artist. It’s just language that means different things to different people.
You’re a maker. You’re attempting to create something beautiful and new. You’re in the process of creating yourself.
Are you excited and ready to take action, yet something is off?
Here’s a practical thing to do that will work for you.
Journal or document your concerns. Ask why.
Find a quiet place and write line by line your questions and answers.
Is there something that I’ve been advised to do that doesn’t feel right?
Do I want to live my life like those advising me?
If not, what part of their life do I NOT prefer?
How would I prefer to go forward on my own terms?
What would that look like?
The problem with the newly-emerging creator learning from another is that there has to be a cutoff point. A separation between the teacher and the taught.
Yet the creator, YOU, are told that the way you prefer to BE in the world is not realistic.
The greatest wisdom I can offer is this. Go with your intuition, your gut, your instinct. It is given to you by nature, by grace.
Those who think they understand your reality — well, they just don’t.
Visionaries receive a lot of guidance intuitively. Really pay attention to your body and how you feel as you’re mulling over a choice. ~Carolyn Myss in Archetypes: A Beginner’s Guide to Your Inner-Net
Here’s a mantra that will help:
I trust in myself. I trust that something is missing. Ideas come to me easily to fill in the missing pieces.
Say this mantra throughout the day. Sit in silence saying it and feel the peace and ease that it brings. The answer will arise in you.
When do you take public action? When it’s the next step that makes sense to you. When it feels right.
Hey! I’m Jenna Atkinson and I’m an intuitive. I do readings and teach how to notice and understand the signs of guidance you’re receiving.
