Spiritual Meaning of Job Loss

This summer I heard from several friends from different states who lost their jobs — fired to be exact.

This was upsetting to them of course. It feels like a big fail — rejection.

Yet once they understood it from a higher perspective it became a gift.

These were peacemakers who were not using their unique gifts to their potential. They were stuck in an office with employers who were holding them back, keeping them small.

In all cases they were cheating themselves at that job. They saw signs that it wasn’t a good match but they ignored them.

We are always given a warning of what’s ahead. If we don’t act, then we will have to react.

Loss of a job means that the vibrations were not a match. Here’s some examples:

Lack of Attention

This means the employee has already left the job in their mind. You are not appreciating it. You yearn for something else.

Your mind eventually gives you what you want, whether you’re conscious of it or not. Lack of focus, lack of appreciation for something causes it to slowly move away from you.

It starts energetically, then manifests as a physical separation.

Resistance/Fighting

If in your mind you are fighting with your employer, disrespecting, angry, blaming — even if you smile and do your work, there will likely be a disrespectful separation.

Life is a constant cycle of giving and receiving. You receive what you give — eventually.

It isn’t a punishment. It’s the universe doing for you what you wouldn’t do for yourself, which is to find a life circumstance you enjoy.

Your Inner Self Has Transformed

If you have experienced a major improvement in your emotional body — peace, happiness, enlightenment — your job changes somehow.

This usually results in a more peaceful change. A promotion, or a lay-off with benefits and time enough to reposition yourself to something you are uniquely suited to.

Can’t Find a Job Replacement

And if you are changing inside and can’t find a job, it’s likely you are looking in the wrong places.

You are looking in the same field, yet the job loss or layoff was a realignment so you could do something you love — something new.

If you take a job similar to the one you left, where you’d wind up stifled, you may not have that job for long.

Just like there’s always a spiritual solution for everything (the effect), there’s also a spiritual reason for the cause.

It’s good to understand it from both ends. How do I fix it and how do I understand why it happened so I become conscious of what I’m creating?

UPDATE: About the time I wrote this story, my son was laid off from his design job. All of the family knows this is an upgrade in his life. He would not have chosen to abandon his secure paycheck for the unknown world of freelance — yet now he is looking at possibilities rather than fears.

This is the gift of looking forward.
