Wouldn’t all of us ladies like to have polished, radiant looking skin? Or sometimes we're just looking for a new facial routine that actually shows us real results! Everybody seems to be getting into the “less is more” standard and it makes me so happy ( doing the happy dance!). Why?.. Because less IS more. What I mean by that is getting back to caring for our skin ( our faces and necks, to be more specific) in a more natural way using pure, easy to pronounce ingredients. It's really that simple!

Let's Get to the fun parts: shopping and creating!

Below, I've made a shopping list of what you'll need to make your own facial essences and serums. I'll let you in on the secret of “why essences and serum?” In just a minute.

What You’ll Need:

A couple of washcloths ( yes, plain ‘ol washcloths like grandma use to use!)

2-3, 2oz. Spray bottles ( you can get the plastic ones in a pack or individually at most dollar stores)

2oz dropper bottles ( I've seen them in stores in the household area for under $20 for a pack of 12!)

Vitamin E oil

Joboba oil

Tea bags ( think green tea, Jasmine, chamomile, floral teas)

Dry flowers (I love eucalyptus, lavender and rose petals)

Your fav essential oils ( think frankincense and myrrh)

The Secret Is Found in the Ancient Past

For centuries, in Asia, women used “beauty waters” in their facial care regimens often applying creams and powders to their faces, polishes with a cloth and repeating several times over until a blemish-free, toned, almost porcelain, look was achieved. Essences played a huge role in this process of beautifying. See, these liquid infusers help to detox and tone the skin and these ladies knew this secret.

“So how do I make my own facial essenses?”

Boil 2 cups of water with

Your choice of tea and the dried flowers

Let the liquid cool before pouring it into the spray bottles

While you're waiting for your essense H2O to cool, take a few spray bottles, and with your essential oils, drop about 3-4 drops into each one ( this is where you can get creative)

Now you're ready to pour your infused “beauty water” into each bottle

That's it! You're done

PRO TIP * the best way to apply is directly to the face and neck and pat with your finger tips*

“Serums are typically applied to skin after cleansing but before moisturizing,” says Dr. Maryam M. Asgari, associate professor in the department of dermatology at Harvard Medical School.

After washing and exfoliating with that washcloth and having applied your homemade essense, in cones the serum, the elixir (feeling like a goddess yet?). As quoted from the Doc above, seruns aren't to be replaced for a good moisturize...but the benefits of infusing your face and neck with a serum first are plenty.

DIY Face & Neck Serum:

Fill a few of your new 2oz.dropper bottles as follows:

A quarter of pure Vitamin E oil.

A quarter of Joboba oil

Fill the rest with your fav essential oil(s)

And there it is! A simple, pure way of changing up your skin game.
