I only got my shit together well after the recession, worked for free in a field I hated for many, many years of my 20s, and lived out that paragraph about temps, unstable toss-aside labor with horrific companies, and freelancing. The worst part — the older you are, the less valuable you are. The internships that have replaced entry level jobs to be trained into new schools are now for college grads that can be recruited from field-specific programs and trained without being paid.
